*edit: you should also be able to do this with Rom hacks also :D(in theory)*
So for a good amount of teim now whenever anyone here's about a randomized pokemon game they ask if they can play it on their ds and there hasn't been a way(that I'm aware of) but fairly recently homebrew has become available for a lot more ppl and with homebrew you can play roms.... That means you can play randomized pokemon roms! I can not find any tutorials on this with a quick internet search so I think I may be one of the first ppl to show this off! So here is what you will need...
Would you tell us more about Dabomstew/universal-pokemon-randomizer? Is the project reliable? Yes, realiable Somewhat realiable Not realiable. Would you recommend this project? Yes, definitely Not sure Nope. Is the documentation helpful? Download Universal Pokemon Game Randomizer 1.6.3. Create your own Pokemon game. Universal Pokemon Game Randomizer is an app that allows you to create your own Pokemon game. You just need another Pokemon game's ROM (from any Nintendo game console). The way you make your customized Pokemon game is easy.
Your 3DS on version 9.0.0 through 9.9.0(I think those were the versions....) and its SD card
YouTube installed on your ds
An average knowledge of computers
A computer with the following things....
The ability to put in your SD card
The ability to install a LOT of stuff
Winrar or something to unzip files
Java
And the plz comment if I say u need during to tutorial but didn't say it there
So this will be in sections and in steps as this is basically a tutorial for a ton of different things you would need a tutorial for so if u already have or did something u can just skip right over it
««««««««««««««Homebrew»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
1) take out your sd card
A fairly easy and self explanatory
step
2)put it into your computer
Once again... Easy step
3) make a folder on your desktop
To do this you will need to right
click on your desktop and go
down to 'new' then 'Folder'
you can name it whatever you
want. I will be naming it
'TubeHex'
go to the site with the download link
Download the starter kit
5)unzip the file
Winrar should open up the file it
will look like this....
You will press extract to.....
Save it to the folder you made...
Send that folder to your sd...
You now have the files you need
to run homebrew!
6) put your sd back into your system
Safely eject your sd card
Put it back into your console
If it was not off b4 you put it
back in, reset your console
7) go into system settings(this is a multi step multi step step)
Go to internet settings...
Connection settings...
Choose your main connection...
Change settings...
Go to the 2nd page and select
DNS...
Turn off auto-obtain
Change the main DNS to this....
Leave the second one the same
Save it, exit system settings
8) run homebrew
Open YouTube
You should see something like
this...
Make shure you pick the right
version!
If u did everything correctly up to
this point you should see
something like this...
Then a bunch of code and
flashing lights....then.... U get...
If you got that open yeti3DS to
Check if it works....it will look like
this....
Press start and it will exit the
program that is how it works for
almost all of the apps and games
and the entire program
If all worked correctly you are officially a.... Hombrewer? Does that work? Idk but that means you can go onto the nxt step!
Now I fiercely recommend if you have iron fall you download iron hax so you can do it offline!
««««««««««««««««Emulator»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
1) make a folder like before and call it whatever you want
2)so we are going to download the emulator for homebrew
Go to
www.#list' target='_blank'>3dbrew.org/wiki/homebrew_applications#list
From there go down to the
applications and go to gameyob
And press the download link and
Download the .zip file...
Unzip it to your folder
3) put it onto your sd
Take out your sd and put it into
your computer
Open the root of your sd
You should see a folder labled
'3ds' put game yob into that
folder when ever you get any
Applications you will put it in
That folder...
3) put back on your sd card and make shure it works
Safely eject Sd then open back
up homebrew the same way as
before
If it all works you can now play a good amount of GB and GBC games on your 3ds without having to pay for it on the eshop and you have a much better selection of games! The compatability list is on the application list ok gave the link for earlier in my tutorial thingy lol, talking about roms...
««««««««Downloading the Roms»»»»»»»»»
1) of course make a folder lol
2) finding the Rom
I like to use emparidise but you
can use any website
The Rom will be the same as a
computer rom....
3) download it
Just do it
4) put file into your folder and/or sd
You will need it on your
computer to randomize it but
It's your choice if you want to
Play the plain rom if you do you
should also copy it to the sd
when ever you please
That is the easiest part so if you can do this one there is not much reason to feel extra good bout your self but that doesn't mean you should feel bad about your self if you can't.... If you can't its probably my fault.....XP
««««««««««««Randomize it»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»
1) make a new folder again lol
2)go to www.pokehacks.dabomstew.com/randomizer
Go to downloads and press the
'Get it by clicking here!' link and it
Will download
3) unzip the files
Use your unzipping program to
Unzip the files
4) open the randomizer
This is where you will need java
Right click and press open with
Then select java
The randomizer will look like
this...
You have now successfully downloaded and ran the universal randomizer! Now I know I was very vague on this one but that was because of the sheer amount of tutorials for this
«««««««how to use the randomizer»»»»»»»
1) open Rom
Press 'open' Rom...
Choose the Rom of the
Pokemon game you chose....
2) Select wot you want! There are a ton of different settings to mess with! If you scroll over it, it tells you wot it is
3) after you have picked every thing you want you can save the Rom as wot ever you want as long as you remember the name
«««««««««««playing the game»»»»»»»»»»»»
1) it is time.... To play.... THE GAAAAAMMMEEHHH..... Ok so first we need to put our randomized Rom on the sd first in the root of the sd we will make a folder called 'roms'
2) we are going copy the randomized Rom onto the 'roms' folder on the sd
3) put the sd back into the system
You can do this by now lol
4) open homebrew
5)open gameyob
6) find the rom
7) open iiiiiiiittttaaahhh
8) wait for it
9) wait for it
10) soooooooo cllloooooossseeeaahhh
11) go through dialogue
12) until...
13) u get here....
14)
that is not the right Mon....witch means.... It worked!.... Luts see my starters shall we....
cyndaquil? At first I saw this and thought I did something wrong but that would of been in the middle but the nxt Mon was....
leik if you Crei ever trim
And finally.....

Any way I hope I helped you out and you enjoyed!!!

Hello all.
This is a randomizer program that takes a different route to the Reasonable gen3 randomizer recently released - instead of randomizing one set of games extremely thoroughly it aims to randomize every Pokemon game equally well, if not as thorough. It fills in the gaps of other randomizer programs by allowing full randomization of Gen4 & Black2/White2 ROMs - something that could only be previously partially achieved using cheats.
Right now it supports every main-series English ROM, and can randomize the following things in them:
- Starter Pokemon
- Wild Pokemon
- Trainers Pokemon
- Pokemon Base Stats
- Pokemon Types
- Pokemon Abilities
- Pokemon Movesets
- TM Moves
- TM/HM Learnability
- Static Pokemon (e.g. given by NPCs, buyable at the casino, etc)
- The moves that Move Tutors teach, in certain games where they are particularly significant.
The download is here and you can get the source code here
The version which doesn't need an external config directory is here. Use this if the original complains about missing config files even after extraction.
Future features:
- Much more support for non-English ROMs
- Foreign language support for the program itself
- More cool ASM hacks that you can apply to the games to customize your experience a little bit further.
Feedback, criticism and suggestions are extremely welcome. This was very fun to make.
EDIT: Updated for version 1.2.0a.
